What is dANCE eCLECTIX Mission Statement?

dANCE eCLECTIX’s mission has two goals. The first is to gather dancers from the Oklahoma City area ages 15 & above to give them the opportunity to present a showcase in a professional setting. The second goal is to further expand and enrich the Oklahoma Arts Community in the field of dance with performances that are cutting edge.

How does one become a member of dANCE eCLECTIX?

Auditions are held before work on a performance begins. Dancers from previous shows are invited to return to perform again without auditioning. Members of the Street Team are also members of dANCE eCLECTIX.

What is the cost to dancers?

Funding for dANCE eCLECTIX will made possible through private funding. Once a group has been established dANCE eCLECTIX will file for a 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization in order to apply for grants. Out-of-pocket costs will only go to basic necessities such as shoes, leotard, tights, jazz pants, etc.

Will there be any compensation for dancers?

dANCE eCLECTIX is designed as a Community Dance Event. Although dancers are not paid, dancers are not required to pay for rehearsals or costumes. If a company is formed in the future, compensation will be given to dancers based on level and experience.

What will be expected at auditions?

Auditions will consist of 4-5 combinations in different areas. These will cover basic technique and any specific needs for the upcoming show. Combinations are taught the day of auditions. Dancers are judged on technique, ability to learn choreography, and stage presence. Music can be sampled on dANCE eCLECTIX website in advance to get a sense of what can be expected.

When will rehearsals be?

Rehearsals will be given twice a week to work on pieces for upcoming shows. More rehearsals may be called as the performance gets closer. Rehearsals will base on both director’s and dancers’ schedule.

How long will dancers be obligated?

Dancers are obligated to one showcase at a time. At that time a contract is signed acknowledging your commitment to that particular showcase. Dancers from previous shows are invited to return without auditioning, but must sign a new contract each time.
