dANCE eCLECTIX in Oklahoma City....

dANCE eCLECTIX is designed for both pre-professional and professional dancers to have an opportunity to perform in a professional show. The goal of dANCE eCLECTIX is to bring the art of jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip hop to a more professional level in Oklahoma City, and give it a more edgy, editorial approach for audiences to enjoy. Auditions are held before work begins on each show. Each time previous dancers are invited to return to perform in another production. Rehearsals will be held twice a week and will require two technical classes to be taken from each dancer's home studio or the studio of their choosing. Funding for dANCE eCLECTIX will be sourced through fundraising, donations, and private funding. dANCE eCLECTIX will be filing for Non-Profit status for grant funding as well.

Denise Vick has made dancing and choreography her first career in life. Since age 8, she was handpicked by her community education teacher to be taught privately and encouraged her love of Jazz and Choreography.  She then studied with Jim and Carol Ann Crowell and became a member of the Everything Goes Dance Company. She danced the roles of the Christmas Spirit and the Mechanical Ballerina Doll in the production of The Dance of the Drummer.  Later, she became Assistant Sr/Jr Dance Captain and Choreographer.

Denise continued with new director Shannon Calderon and the Everything Goes Dance Company as the Assistant Director and instructor of Ballet, Pointe, and Jazz. Her choreography pieces would include Let the River Run, Chinese Burn, Discotheque, and the two productions [Excerpts from] Chess, and The City of Industry, her tribute to Fritz Lang’s 1939 movie Metropolis.

Currently, Ms. Vick is the Assistant Director for the International Dance Studio in Edmond, Oklahoma where she continues to contribute her artistic merits to Arts Festival performances and spring productions.  She has also worked with Prairie Dance Theatre on their production of Peter and the Wolf as well as instructed Jazz classes for the GI Forum-Louis Rocco Chapter.  In addition, Denise teaches Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical, along with a class on Choreography. In the Fall of 2004, Denise also began devoting her time and creativity to J Rogers Performing Arts Studio.

Denise holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Oklahoma.  She has studied a wide variety of subjects from Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern to Flamenco, Mexican Folkloric, Salsa, and the Argentine Tango.  She is very passionate about teaching and choreography. Her style is energetic, creative, and emotional.  Her goal is to give both the dancers and the audience something new to look at and experience.
